 65 वर्ष से अधिक उम्र के वयस्कों के लिए, प्रति दिन तीन से अधिक मानक पेय (पुरुषों के लिए 3.19 पेय और महिलाओं के लिए 3.51 पेय) की सिफारिश की जाती है।

 डॉ श्रीवास्तव के अनुसार, “यह इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि आप किस तरह की शराब का सेवन कर रहे हैं – बीयर, वाइन, जिन या व्हिस्की, अन्य।  इन सभी में अलग-अलग मात्रा में अल्कोहल होता है।  एक सप्ताह में लगभग 10 मानक पेय और एक दिन में एक मानक पेय से अधिक नहीं, कट-ऑफ मार्कर है।  एक ड्रिंक 15-30 मिली की होनी चाहिए।”
